With great weather expected throughout the Estrie region this weekend, consider a jaunt to one of the province's premier foodie destinations.

Already a city that's been basking in a well-earned reputation as one of Quebec's gastronomic hubs, Sherbrooke is ever-welcoming and ready hold the 2nd edition of their grand gourmand event, Sherbrooke T'en Bouche un Coin this June 12th to 14th. And if the past is any indication, it's set to be a resounding success as more than 3000 people attended the inaugural event last year.

Festival spokesperson, and grand chef himself, Jean Soulard (ex-Château Frontenac).

Designed to highlight the Eastern Townships as a region with an abundance of both talent and terroir when it comes to food, the festival will feature the plates of no less than 20 grands chefs from the area in addition to 5 from Montpellier (France, not Vermont), Sherbrooke's sister city, all of them converging at Parc Jacques-Cartier on the city's enchanting Lac des Nations.

Here visitors will be able to savour their creations, sip wines paired specially for the occasion, unwind to music, or even take part in one of many informative demonstrations and ateliers to learn some of the best tips and tricks for the home cook. Wine classes, bbq presentations, and a trendy soirée are only a few of the ancillary events that celebrate the joy of eating well.

Speaking of, we were able to experience and understand just what all the hype about when media, organizers, and the rockstar chefs themselves all boarded the Grand Cru dinner cruise ship last week at the Parc de la Baie-de-Magog, for a scenic tour around the lake. We took in speeches detailing the full programming, and introductions to all of the kitchen maestros and their establishments. Needless to say extra attention was given when each one emerged with serving plates of their special bites, and we were able to make the rounds to sample the bite-sized gems, and chat culinary inspiration face to face.
