L’Autre Version hosts a Grand Prix program launch focused on Old Mtl.

With the Formula 1 race and attendant revelry around the corner, it feels like summer in the city has truly begun. While much of the Grand Prix action is concentrated further uptown, Old Montreal is getting in on the act with a whole slew of outdoor activities to discover for yourselves and linger over until late.

To launch the goings-on media flocked to L’Autre Version’s beautiful vine covered terrace last week for the whole 411 on the 2nd Old Montreal Celebrates Grand Prix festival, taking place June 4th- 7th.  Here, the lineup of partners were announced and subsequently sampled and celebrated.

We sipped champagne and fluttered from station to station to sample goodies from some of the participants namely cups of paella from Les Pyrenées, pulled pork sandwiches from Épik, shots of gazpacho by Sinclair, Méchant Boeufs juicy, hot sausages, Harlow’s salmon tartar, and extra minty mojitos courtesy of Santos.

When the activities start in earnest Thursday, here’s what you can expect:

From Marché Bonsecours in the east to Saint Pierre St. in the west the heart of the action will run along pedestrian-only St. Paul St. where you’ll find the F1 Foodie Zone consisting of terrasses, BBQs, street art performances, invited Djs, urban decor and, organized by the Pointe-à-Callière Museum, ten or so many pop-up food stations on Place Royale, exclusively June 6th and 7th.

Aside from all the gastronomy, certain establishments are organizing special evenings, collectively known as the Nightlife Circuit, among them a Grey Goose night at Joverse, DJ Ève Salvail at Jack Saloon Old MTL, a Casino Royale soirée at L’Assommoir, and special cocktails and menu at Mimi la nuit and Mangiafoco.

Of course, the old town is not just about eating as lately we’ve witnessed the shopping become than ever. Many stores are taking part in a Prestige Shopping Circuit, and offering special deals, surprises, and exclusive merchandise.

There it is in a nutshell but be sure to visit the official Grand Prix website for all the details.  Festivalgoers, remember to hashtag #F1VieuxMontreal to access a special promotion from Uber, the trusted transportation service we think you’ll use more than a few times this GP weekend.
