The first consecutive days of good weather this week had all of us projecting forward to the best of what's to come in the next few months: terrasse launches galore, Grand Prix mania, fireworks, lobster season, golf outings, the multitude of festivals that take over the city every year and, of course, the vision of our beloved Habs hoisting that elusive 25th Stanley Cup.



One of the city's key contributors to the scene that had everyone in a summery mood this week was the Sofitel's Renoir. Always at the forefront of taking the trend of the moment and interpreting it in a fun, festive way, Chef Olivier Perret and staff unveiled a limited-time offering to mark the start of snow crab season in Quebec, one that crustacean lovers of all kinds will appreciate down to the last morsel.




The crabs in question are fished from the cold waters off Rimouski in the Lower St.Lawrence. The legs and claws presented simply in a nice-size portion, everything perfectly cracked and opened (no tedious struggling to endure!), and served with both seafood and tartar sauces on the side. 




To accompany the ever-so-slightly sweet flesh the bar suggests a crisp Ruffino, Lumina Pinot Grigio from Italy, or else one of the inventive Bloody Caesars made for the occasion: the Gin Caesar with Botanist gin, Espelette pepper, Tabasco, Worcestershire, Clamato, and fir smoked sea salt, or the Sunset Caesar with Marker's Mark whisky, Tabasco, pickle juice, HP sauce, Clamato, and Montreal steak spices.
