It’s no secret why Kiehl’s has enjoyed much success of late – a thriving business in full expansion mode, a cool apothecary image that remains so ‘right for now’ and, perhaps most core to its values, a philosophy and practice of engaging in social action initiatives to bring about positive outcomes in various local communities.

With their latest collaboration, Rocks for Kids, the storied skincare brand has partnered with veteran Canadian band Simple Plan, in a fundraising collaboration benefiting the group’s Simple Plan Foundation, an organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young people by focusing on key areas such as their passage to adulthood, the support of those with life-threatening illnesses, and the use of music as a means to discovering life’s passion and purpose.

The Kiehl’s/SP synergy was automatic and palpable at the recent press launch where details of the partnership were announced, and ‘brand fans’ across the country were invited to participate through several original initiatives:

A Limited Edition Ultra Facial Cream (aka. our secret addiction) featuring its own label will be available at stores across the country, with 100% of net profits donated to the Foundation and, in an initiative billed as National Shop for the Cause, Kiehl’s will donate 1$ for every transaction between Sept. 12-14 2014.

For something more up close and personal, on Sept. 19th the brand will host an exclusive (and free!) acoustic performance with Simple Plan in Toronto. Tickets can be picked up in stores around the GTA as of Sept. 13th. Not in Toronto that day?  No problem as Kiehl’s will live-stream the concert online on www.kiehlsgives.ca and donate 1$ for each view! Overall the goal is to raise $40 000 for the Simple Plan Foundation in Canada. Looking after your skin while giving and helping others? It’s chemistry that goes beyond the bottle.
